Hypnotherapy Is An Effective Tool For Weight Loss!

For many the struggle to lose weight can be an emotional roller coaster. It turns out that going on a diet alone does not result in long-term weight loss. According to two studies, most people gained their weight back.

In a large study published in the medical journal The BMJ, researchers analyzed 121 clinical weight loss trials and 14 popular named weight loss diet programs, and found that people regained most of the weight they lost and completely returned to where they started from.

In addition, another study from 2018, which researched 29 long-term weight loss studies, showed that more than half of the lost weight was regained within 2 years, and by 5 years, more than 80 percent of lost weight was regained.

3 Studies Have Proven Hypnotherapy

Works

The first study is from the early 90’s. It found that people who used hypnosis lost more than twice as much weight as those who dieted without the cognitive therapy. The second study from 2014, observed 60 obese women, and found that those who practiced hypnobehavioral therapy lost weight and improved their eating habits and body image. The third small 2017 study, chronicled eight obese adults and three children, all of whom successfully lost weight, with one even avoiding surgery due to the treatment results.

Why Hypnotherapy Can Help & How It Is

Different

Hypnosis creates a path from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind. Often times, a client will see a hypnotherapist with a “presenting issue” which in this case is being overweight. “Presenting issues” are often a result of a “causative event.” These causative events could stem from a traumatic event from childhood, or even in adult life when one didn’t have the emotional wherewithal to process the situation.

These causative events create time capsules of stuck energy that emit toxic limiting beliefs that can sabotage weight loss. Examples of causative events can be a death of a loved one, being bullied, an abusive parent, depression, a rough breakup, and an act of violence/ rape. Limiting beliefs can include, “I’m not good enough,” “I don’t deserve to be thin,” and “I’m so sad and this food makes me feel better.”

A hypnotherapist will employ hypnosis to reframe and release the emotional charge of these causative events that are stored in the subconscius mind. Once this so called, “bad code,” is removed, then a hypnotherapist can enter positive suggestions “good code.” It’s challenging to lose the weight if the underlying issues in the subconscious mind are not addressed.

Why Getting Healthy Is Important

According to the CDC, “Results from the 2017–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), using measured heights and weights, indicate that an estimated 42.5% of U.S. adults aged 20 and over have obesity, including 9.0% with severe obesity, and another 31.1% are overweight.”

These numbers are staggering when one takes into account that excess body fat seriously increases the risk of serious health problems, including major cancers, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression, respiratory problems, and even fertility problems. A 2017 study found that obesity now drives more early preventable deaths in the U.S. than smoking.

In 2021, the weight loss market was worth a jaw-dropping $72.6 billion. This industry sells everything from fancy gym memberships, diet pills, meal replacements, brand name diets and pricey medical programs. All of these have a place, and can be useful. Although unless the underlying emotional issues in the subconscious mind are addressed, in combination with a life style change, the possibility of keeping the weight loss off long-term is extremely low.
